BBWAA leak? Venezuelan reporter says King Felix has won the Cy Young Award

Nov 18, 2010, 1:37 PM EDT

Mariners' Hernandez throws against the Blue Jays in their MLB American League baseball game in Toronto

The BBWAA won’t officially release the winner of the Cy Young Award until 2PM, but Venezuelan journalist Alexander Mendoza tweeted a few minutes ago that Felix Hernandez has won it, and that he’s celebrating his win with his family already.

I guess we’ll see shortly if he was right.

It’s gonna be really funny if he didn’t win.

The computers all say Felix won. Why does anyone care what the writers think?

    • Mr. Jason "El Bravo" Heyward - Nov 18, 2010 at 1:55 PM

Because they write down what the computers tell them so that we can read the computer’s output. The right choice was made. The King!

We can only wish they did. Unfortunately, there are still morons who leave Posey and Heyward off their ROY ballots, and I am sure there will be more than a few who leave the King off theirs because he didn’t “win enough”. Let the computers handle it all is what I say. Put in stats, pull out results. Why bother with all the subjectivity?????
