He didn't "undermine" Minaya and Manuel very much. He didn't need to. They were perfectly capable of screwing everything up within the ambit of the leeway they had, and did. If Wilpon's body had been standing upside-down in a cryogenic cylinder and his head was being used for a paperweight in the records office during the entire period of Minaya's stewardship, the results would have been pretty much the same - except that he'd have less money left.

As for Willie Randolph, between that slimebag Manuel and that lowlife equipment manager - who probably could have been one of O. J. Simpson's houseguests if everybody's favorite multiple murderer were still at liberty - he wasn't just undermined; he was swallowed by a sinkhole that Manuel probably paid good money to have moved from central Florida to directly underneath Randolph's desk.

Omar, where are you when Oliver needs you? This dude is the poster boy for what went wrong with the Mets under Minaya's leadership. He couldn't get anyone out, he refused a minor league assignment to work out his pitching problems, he refused to accompany the team on their visit Walter Reed Army Hospital to pay homage to those injured troops and he was a cancer in the clubhouse. Now if they could only get something for that injury prone Carlos Beltram the Mets might be back on the road to respectability. One caveat however; If only Jr. Wilpon allows Alderson to do his job and not undermined him the way he undermined Minaya, Randolph and Manuel
