Most of baseball’s news makers are obviously off to celebrate Thanksgiving right now, because there isn’t much of anything happening today. So now is as good a time as any to discuss something really important:
Why would anyone throw a screwball to Batman with a full count and the bases loaded?

(hat tip to BTF, who linked this from a fun comic book heroes playing baseball post over at Comicsalliance)

1. Craig, it’s “throw” not “through”
2. Why did they put a bases loaded walk into a comic? That’s arguably the most boring way to score in the game. Why not a grand slam by Batman? Was someone cooler on deck? Since Batman is the coolest DC character, that can’t be why, can it?
3. Craig, who’s making the turkey tomorrow? I assume you’ll be posting recaps of the cooking process, e.t.a. on turkey time, etc., etc.?
4. Happy Thanksgiving everybody!

Look at that – they picked the one umpire who’s demonstrably worse than Joe West.

Yet better than CB Buckner.

Also check out the top right panel. That may be the sickest movement on a pitch I have ever seen. He defied physics with the way he threw that ball.

How does Batman go from being a RH hitter to a LH hitter?

Duh, everyone knows he’s ambidextrous and thus a switch-hitter.

I thought you said Robin was the switch hitter? Now I’m confused

Robin is strictly a catcher.

Superman didn’t touch home, no run scored.

I thought Superman was the umpire? I bet Aquaman was the only one left on the bench.

No, Aquaman was off getting his mortgage refinanced because it’s gone even further underwater the past two years…

Why is Superman umping and running the bases?
-
- jkcalhoun - Nov 24, 2010 at 5:24 PM
-
He’s not running the bases. He’s just doing his Frank Drebin ball four call.
