I am really appalled to see how such a SS is garnering this kind of attention. As stated in the article above, his last season is a significant spike from his previous years in the league and now he is going to come into a league that is much better all-around than his. I feel bad for any fan that roots for the team that signs him.

Hudson was offered arbitration solely so he would be a Type B free agent so the twins would get some compensatory draft picks when another team signs him. There is very little likelihood that he stays. Casilla and Nishioka will be the starting middle infielders, I’d imagine Hardy will get moved.

Nishioka’s arm may not be strong enough to stay at SS, which makes you wonder why we offered Hudson arbitration. Not to mention that Casilla had a nice year when he played and we still have the Hardy issue.

The buzz is that Twins & Hudson agreed that he will decline arbitration so the Twins can get the draft pick. Casilla was in line to take 2B before this Nishioka business came up.

By offering arbitration to Hudson, the Twins will probably use Hudson and Castillo at 2B and use Nishioka at SS if they sign him, and move Hardy. Maybe to the Yankees as a Jeter replacement???
