If tulo is making twenty mill year i would say he is the new benchmark to value production at ss. I have watched the guy play some and he has a great arm, i would see no problem with him making the transition to third later in his career.

Boy, it looks like the Rockies didn't learn anything from their long-term deal with Todd Helton. They obviously took away that their only bad contracts were with pitchers. Middle infielders can seriously decline in their 30's, so maybe they see Tulo as their 3B in 5 years.

In general I think it's not a good idea to sign any athlete to a contract longer than five or six years. The bad side of deals like this always seem to come out when the terms are guaranteed. Rick DiPietro anyone?

At least Tulowitki's not throwing from the mound every five days because long-term deals with pitchers are even higher risks. Maybe Troy will be the one that succeeds.

So instead of getting him for his late 20s and letting him go when he hits 30, they want to have him for his early and mid 30s as well? When they don't have to make a decision for another several years? This seems like a very bad idea. And I love Tulo!
