Daniel Murphy has a pulled hamstring

Daniel Murphy throw

Remember last week’s story about how Mets possible second baseman Daniel Murphy had “leg fatigue.”  Yeah, turns out it’s really a pulled hamstring.

Adam Rubin — who passed that along in his ESPN chat a few minutes ago — said that it was minor, but it’s still not great news.  Not for Murphy, who has had health problems in the past. Not for the Mets either, who have a history of under-reporting the severity of player injuries that occur in winter ball, often via Adam Rubin.

Great. Next we’ll hear that David Wright has gout, Carlos Beltran has scurvy, and Jose Reyes has the chicken pox, beri-beri, and his annual hamstring pull.
    Shoot me now.
Oh well. 12 weeks to NASCAR.
