Jeff Passan – in the same post in which he passed along that Greinke news — said that free agent Lance Berkman is seeking a one-year deal worth $7 million.
The A’s are scheduled to meet with him soon, and they’d probably like to have a veteran DH with Berkman’s skills. I have this feeling he’d seriously rake if given one city and one distinct job next year, preferably DH. He’s going to hit better than Jack Cust, I imagine, and he could play first base once in a while too. $7 million doesn’t seem like to much to ask for all of that, even for Oakland.

He mashes in Cincinnati; if only he could play a passable LF. Sadly those days are probably about 4 years behind him.

If Tejada’s signed for 6.5, Lance is a gentleman in asking for 7. I’d love to see him in a Cub uniform as a stopgap option for 2011.
