The Dodgers are thinking about signing Jason Varitek too?

Nov 30, 2010, 5:30 PM EDT

And you thought Johnny Damon was nuts. Rosenthal mentions another potential Dodger target: Jason Varitek.

This may be a bit more iffy than a lot of rumors because, according to Rosenthal, the Dodgers are looking at a ton of different catchers as they try to figure out if Russell Martin can still play.  But the fact that they’re even considering Varitek is kind of astounding.  He truly has nothing left.

Wait! I got it!  Johnny Damon . . .  Jason Varitek . . . The Dodgers are trying to do inestimable damage to the Red Sox’ psyche!

Frank McCourt already is an idiot. He’s just trying to surround himself with a few more ‘idiots’ from the 2004 team in Damon and Varitek.

How many ’04 Sox has he had so far? I count Bill Mueller, Manny Ramirez, Derek Lowe, Nomar Garciaparra, and Doug Mientkeiwicz. If he got Damon AND Varitek, it’d be hilarious.

If you go off the ’03 Sox, you get to add Grady Little to the mix. I’m just shocked he hasn’t brought in Kevin Millar to platoon with James Loney.

Torre apparently went off on such a rant about the BooSux from back then, that they want to bring them in for old times sake.

(Insert “when he was there” since Torre is obviously not there anymore)

The Dodgers are obviously envious of all the press coverage that the Yankees are receiving due to their elderly short stop.

Old Red Sox exit the big leagues in Dodger uniforms. Old Cubs exit the big leagues in Oriole uniforms.
