Getty Images Eric Hinske had been courted by both the Brewers and the Braves, but he has decided to stick with Atlanta. Dave O’Brien of the AJC reports that he’s getting a one-year deal with an option. No word on the bucks yet, but Mark Bowman had previously reported that the offer from Atlanta was for around $1.5 million. It could have gotten richer since then.
Hinske was useful off the bench for the Braves last season, hitting 256/.338/.456 with 11 homers in 320 plate appearances. He will no doubt fill that role again, backing up Martin Prado in left field and spelling Freddie Freeman at first.
