It’s a little amazing that the Sox sre willing to give up this much for basically a one year rental. If part of the deal included Gonzalez signing an extension ala Doc and the Phillies, I could see it. But just one year?

Are Yankees paying someone off the Red Sox FO? Does Boston really want a power hitting 1B coming off of shoulder surgery? If the Padres get a used bats in return, the deal would be a steal for them.

the one player in that deal who i don’t like is reddick ,rizzo ,iglesias , bard , they are all outstanding young players . kalish could be our next yaz

Interesting that as a Red Sox fan you wouldn’t want to include Kalish while I as a Padre fan wouldn’t want that crap platter for Gonzalez. At least not before the season starts although that might be enough at the trading deadline.
