Why? Now, granted, I haven’t watched an Ortiz AB against a lefty in about four years, but he hit lefties pretty well back in ’06, why would things be any different now? Why do you think I refuse to pinch hit for him in critical, late-game situations against lefty specialists? Remember that home run he hit off Mike Myers in like ’05? That was great!

Dombrowski just seems to be twiddling his thumbs. I can’t believe he’s content with Rayburn, Boesch and Casper Wells as corner outfielders so, as defensively challenged as Magglio is, I hope the Tigers sign him for another year rather than go with those stumble bums. That is, of course, unless DD can find a new way to bamboozle the Marlins.

This move makes a ton of sense, assuming they’re out on Crawford. Magglio can spell Papi a bit at DH and his defensive shortcomings should be muted by playing up against the Monster.

It seems like a good short-term move for a guy who still figures to have something left in the tank and who figures to thrive in that ballpark.
