The RS, .. yeah sure! I'll believe it when I see it.

Thanks to the Nats, Crawford will get at least 7 years and 140 million. The next time the current owners of the RS sign a FA deal like that will be the first time too. And, before anybody brings up Gonzalez, he was a trade with an as yet signed extension. He doesn’t count yet.

I doubt that the RS are going to go from no top tier FA acquisitions to signing 2 at about 300 million in one off season. What would the Nation do when they had to retire their Yankees are ruining baseball by outbidding everybody for free agents rant?

I think the yankees will regret this if they don't offer Crawford a contract. He's not injury prone, he's young, and brings game changing speed. Everyone thinks the yankees outfield is set and everything, but I certainly don't rest my chips on Gardner hitting above .270 - not great considering he brings zero power. I don't see him as a long term fill. Also, Jeter's ability to hit at the top of the lineup is deteriorating quickly - he's losing speed and hits into too many DP's. Crawford will still be hitting .300, with 15-20 homers and 50-70 steals in 5 years.
