Report: there is a seven-year offer on the table to Lee

Jon Heyman is so deliciously schizophrenic today: The Nats are in, the Nats are out, seven years is on the table, seven years is not happening.  It’s been awesome.

We’re now back to yang from his last ying: Heyman reports that Cliff Lee has at least one seven-year offer on the table. And it’s not from the Nationals. We don’t know who it’s from.

We’ll let you know when this changes. It will likely be three minutes from now.

        Bears. Oh my.

Breaking news: Jon Heyman and Craig Calcaterra have been seen canoodling at a karaoke bar

I’d love to see the Mariners coming back to reclaim him after the trade to Texas. He was lights out in Seattle and pairing him up with King Felix for the long-term would be swell. Especially if they could hunt down a little offense to add to the mix up north.

That would be great…. If the M’s had that kind of money! Wonder if he would take the space needle as “partial payment”?

    • IdahoMariner - Dec 7, 2010 at 2:35 PM

yes, please. give him the space needle, the EMP, and the Ducks.

      • PanchoHerreraFanClub - Dec 7, 2010 at 5:23 PM

The M’s had him last year and finished 17 games further out of the division lead than the year before in the worst division in the AL.

And how ’bout that Mariners offense? Oh, that’s right…

  5. sdelmonte - Dec 7, 2010 at 1:46 PM

It was me. I offered him a seven year contract. No money, no team, just a contract. Now he can go to everyone and say “someone offered me a seven year contract” and be telling the truth.

So did DirectTV and his wireless provider.

      • Utley's Hair - Dec 7, 2010 at 3:02 PM

Wait…they have DirecTV and wireless service in Arkansas?

  6. Gobias Industries - Dec 7, 2010 at 1:55 PM

Heyman is now reporting that Lee will be rejecting all offers and will instead retire to Arkansas and become a goat farmer.

Update: Heyman just tweeted that Lee will be raising alpacas, not goats.

    • nyfan1 - Dec 7, 2010 at 4:59 PM

Update: according to Heyman, the goats are demanding a seven year contract…

It must be really fun to be John Heyman. He’s like a child, so credulous and filled with joy.
