Gee who wouldn’t be excited about this? Hideki Matsui will at least fill the photographer well as long as he’s healthy. And he does appeal to the substantial Japanese-American community in the East Bay. Of course he’ll also miss substantial time this year.

Brandon McCarthy was a big-time prospect before all the injuries started. I guess Oakland needed a replacement for the Guaranteed to Go on the DL (GGDL) roster spot vacated by Justin Duchscherer. And in fine Angelos-like fashion Beane has substituted a cheaper alternative as McCarthy makes about $ 1.1M less than Duke.

Personally I’d be more inclined to buy a ticket if Oakland were signing Jenny McCarthy.
