The Crawford signing didn’t surprise me. I remember an on-field interview with Carl Crawford at Fenway in 2007. After 3+ years, I don’t recall his exact words, but I do recall thinking it sounded like he’d like to play for the Red Sox. It wasn’t the typical respect-for-the-oppostion BS, it was more of an admiration for the Sox’ team and organization. It obviously made an impression on me. How many times do you remember anything about an on-field interview, years later?

Why would Reagins be livid, isn’t that part of the business, maybe if they went above and beyond then he would go. You can tell someone what it would take but doesn’t mean they will or have to take it.
