The Watertown Indians had a scheduled game and Bob Feller was to be the guest of honour. I took a group of youngsters with me from Canada over to the game so they could meet a "Hall of Famer". As it turned out, the game was rained out. Bob Feller, who had to be in his 70's at the time, stood by the trunk of his car in the parking lot in the rain and signed autograph pictures of himself until everyone who lined up had received one. He may have been a gruff old codger, but he sure didn't disappoint his fans. I doubt we will see his kind again.

A true National Icon and treasure. Bob Feller, one of the best Pitchers of all time who could have had an even more amazing career had he not given it up to fight our enemies that crushed our Pacific fleet in one swift blow. He's a rare individual that should be honored.

Men like this are the reason many Americans carry around the mindset that athletes are role models.

Feller enjoyed his HOF status for 48 years, the longest life span yet for an honoree.

Musial now holds the distinction, at 41 and counting.

Bob Feller was a one-of-a-kind all time great and his passing is another loss to our link to the great baseball past. My father is an old man and Bob Feller was kicking butt when my dad was too young to follow baseball.
