Yea the Phillies had an unfair advantage last year thanks to us fans. They were the only team in baseball with 2 stadiums. Meaning they got 9 more home games then everyone else last year.

are you serious? You’re going to compare one of the GREATEST players of his position all time to a guy who has about 4 pretty good years in his entire career? Really?? Reggie White will be talked about for decades and generations, when Werth retires aside from a few die hard Phillies fans most people could care less… not to mention the Eagles had a great defense but they weren’t a championship quality team, the Phillies on the other hand have the talent to get back to the World Series for the next couple of years

some of you guys are funny.. Bartman gets destroyed by the Cubs fanbase for interferring on a foul ball play, and now you wanna bring up something like this and almost imply that Werth was in the wrong at that time? If you have seats that close to the field you have to understand that you could effect your team… if that game had been during October or really meaningful in September you probably wouldnt even bother bringin it up

You never really know how this will play out. It’s easy to say the Nats won’t ever win, but that’s all based on history.

Plenty of people questioned Reggie White’s move to Green Bay and he got a lot of money when he did that. Packers’ fans didn’t have to wait that long for a trophy to follow. Not saying that happens in DC, but I’m not saying it won’t either.

yea i dont see how he’s a greedy jerk.. some guys tho just arnt in it for the love of the game, and thats their prerogative.. some guys play for the $ and some play for the $ and winning.. and when you dedicate yourself to a sport for so long you deserve to do what you want with your life..especially AFTER you’ve already won a championship

I don’t begrudge him leaving for a big payday. He had a few good years here and was an important cog in the Phightins success. I’m just glad he got the ever-elusive WS ring out of the way before he left, since he won’t get anywhere near it down there.

He’ll be able to watch every playoff game, and the WS from the comfort of home now. I like the tall Hairy ape, but he’s full of crap for sure. On the other hand it’s going to do nothing but make better buisiness for the Nats, so they win by his almost trash talk too.

I agree that Werth is exhibiting the confidence expected of him as one of the Nats’ new leaders. The irony is that Werth’s contract is and will be the biggest impediment to the Nats improving enough to draw fans and achieve what Werth is talking about here. Putting super-fly wheels on a Chevy Cavalier does not make it a Ferrari.

His commitment to rehashing the same quotes/optimism over and over is honorable. What choice does he have? What is he gonna say: “Hey guys the management is delusional, I’m a greedy jerk, we’re gonna suck this year and for the next 4 years at least and even if we ever win Phillies fans are so rabid they will always embarass us in our own park”? Of course he’s feeding the media this BS. It’s what he’s supposed to do. I think he’s doing the right thing. Whether he truly believes it or not is a question I’m sure we’ll never get an answer to…but I think we all can make a good assumption that he knows he’s full of crap.

Methinks JDub’s a bit woozy from getting slammed in the head by a bag of gold bricks. The day the Gnats start selling out their seats on a consistent basis will be the day they start winning on a consistent basis—which will be after Strasburg, Harper and Co. are playing well, which will probably be after JDub’s contract has expired or shipped somewhere else.
