The Marlins are not interested in Edgar Renteria

The other day we heard that the Marlins may be interested in bringing Edgar Renteria back. In the story about him being insulted over the Giants’ $1 million offer, he said another team was interested, so I assumed that was the Marlins.  Not so says Joe Capozzi of the Palm Beach Post. He heard from two sources today that the Marlins haven’t even spoken about Edgar Renteria.

So, Edgar: feeling any less disrespected by the Giants’ offer yet?

It’s hard to imagine why the Feesh would want him. Who need’s yesterday’s hero (game 7, 1997 series) hanging around sucking up a million bucks that could be growing mouldy with interest in Scrooge McLoria’s money vault? Anyway, the Feesh already grossly overpaid the Braves for an infielder this year and they’ve gone from rags to a schmateh mill in their bullpen, with lots of spring training assimilation time needed to sort that mess out. Give it a rest on the new acquisitions already or some other team is liable to break camp with the lowest payroll in MLB. We just can’t have that.
