Bring on Casey Kotchman at First - one error in the last 2 1/2 years and a career .270 hitter with 15 HR. Yeah yeah I know, won't scare anybody at the plate but he makes the infield defense so much better - hits for doubles and brings a left handed bat into the 6 or 7 hole in the lineup. He's on the cheap after getting screwed in that mess up in Seattle last year.

The idea of Vladdy at DH and Scott at 1B sits alright with me. However, Guerrero is one of the many free agents that have spurned Baltimore in the past (along with Konerko and LaRoche, this year and before).

The Orioles primary offseason goal was to bring in more offense. That's why I'm not keen other options like Giambi, Kotsay and Branyan. Those guys aren't going to scare too many opposing pitchers.

Lee and Glaus would be my preferred choices, followed by the Guerrero/Scott option. Cantu would probably be the "if nothing else works" 4th option. Settling is what gave us Garrett Atkins in 2010 and that's something O's fans don't want to relive. Now these alternatives all assume the LaRoche boat has sailed away yet again, but deadlines do strange things to some people.
