This is the guy who ran for congress on an energy platform: he claimed we could save billions of dollars a year in energy costs simply by passing legislation to lower the boiling point of water by two degrees. Imagine how much better off we’d all be with a congress full of Bill Lees than with the crop of freshly minted knuckledragging idiots who are going to show up in January.

Bill Lee may be my favorite baseball personality of all time…even though he probably lost the Red Sox the pennant in 1978 with his Bernie Crarbo protest strike. I often wonder if Spaceman knew Carbo was habitually drunk or stoned during games, as Carbo admitted last year. I think he probably did.
