HBT Commenters always tell the truth

Lenny Dykstra

Back before Christmas I did a post about Lenny Dykstra that inspired some fun comments from a person named Monica Foster. Those of you who hung around that thread heard Ms. Foster explain how Lenny Dykstra bounced a check to her for escort services in a Beverly Hills hotel.

As soon as she began posting that stuff I contacted her because I didn’t feel like dealing with a libel lawsuit. Without going into too much detail, I was pretty darn convinced after talking to her — and after seeing some documentary evidence — that what she was saying was true. At least the major points of it.  I didn’t write anything more about it because, at some point, beating up on Lennny Dykstra gets too easy and because it was pretty attenuated even for my normally loose standards of what constitutes baseball news. But I didn’t take her posts down either.

The whole thing has percolated in the blogosphere for a few weeks now, and today it has actually reached a major newspaper’s website (Buster Olney even gave it mention over at ESPN).  It’s still a little out of our bailiwick, but since there were a number of you who took interest in the thread at the time, I figured it was worth noting that the story has made the big time.

So, yeah, Lenny Dykstra. Awesome.

“Foster went on to explain on her blog that she went public so that other escorts won’t be – you’ll pardon the pun – nailed with bounced checks.”

Craig, I never doubted that you would put a little investigative journalism to work on this one. There was little doubt that some truth was in those comments. Thanks for the follow-up. Oh and yes, I always tell the truth on here…

So you truthfully like pie? How…sad….

The debate rages on in the new year. It’ll never die and always linger, like herpes.

didn’t everyone learn from Jerry Springer’s mistake? paying a prostitute with a check is as stupid as…well…paying a prostitute with a check (line courtesy of Comedy Central’s roast of David Hasselhoff where Springer was one of the roasters).

Lenny, Lenny, Lenny…. you didn’t follow the five basic rules.
    1. Always pay cash.
    2. No cellphone contact.
    3. No texting.
    4. Always use an alias.
    5. Show up in a rental car.

6.) No kissing on the lips.

      • BC - Jan 4, 2011 at 11:19 AM

        Yeah. It’s too personal.

    • Mr. Jason "El Bravo" Heyward - Jan 4, 2011 at 11:31 AM

I assume you just say, “you can call me BC”?

      • Utley's Hair - Jan 4, 2011 at 11:39 AM

He calls himself Jason “El Bravo” Heyward. With air quotes. ;P

      • BC - Jan 4, 2011 at 11:41 AM

I usually go by Boris. Adds some intrigue.

      • Utley's Hair - Jan 4, 2011 at 11:49 AM

Boris like the voice of the Grinch? Or Boris like the Rocky and Bullwinkle villain?

      • Mr. Jason "El Bravo" Heyward - Jan 4, 2011 at 12:06 PM

…or Boris the Blade aka Boris the Bullet Dodger? Why do they come him that? Because he dodges bullets!

      • BC - Jan 4, 2011 at 12:14 PM

Boris from Rocky and Bullwinkle. The accent drives ’em wild.

      • Utley's Hair - Jan 4, 2011 at 12:27 PM

And the pimp is Bullwinkle? Does that mean Rocky is something like…uh-oh…are you Jerry Penacoli?

  4. Jonny 5 - Jan 4, 2011 at 11:34 AM

Lenny is a dope. And I love the fact that this woman had the nerve to call him out. I don’t care if she’s a prostitute which she kinda denies, hell it should be legal imo. Another victimless crime, which the ugliest parts were created by making it a crime, but that’s a whole different topic altogether…

    • Mr. Jason "El Bravo" Heyward - Jan 4, 2011 at 12:08 PM

Aren’t the pimps the victims when the hoes to pay up?

      • Mr. Jason "El Bravo" Heyward - Jan 4, 2011 at 12:09 PM

        to = don’t (wow)

      • Jonny 5 - Jan 4, 2011 at 12:53 PM

Pimps are just taking advantage. And if the act wasn’t crimminal, we’d be back to having “Madams” running things. We could Tax it to bring in income instead of blowing millions fighting it. Regulation of testing then could take place for STD’s and whatnot. I don’t see why we haven’t gone this route already.

      • Kevin S. - Jan 4, 2011 at 12:56 PM

Jonny’s right, for the most part. It isn’t victimless, but that’s precisely because it’s a crime that there are victims. De-criminalize it, and the hoes wouldn’t be at the mercy of the clients and pimps.

      • Mr. Jason "El Bravo" Heyward - Jan 4, 2011 at 3:24 PM

Plus hookers are good for the soul, like chicken soup.

      • Utley's Hair - Jan 4, 2011 at 3:43 PM

Hookers are good for soles? It sounds like you have a fetish…

    • lunatic96 - Jan 4, 2011 at 3:45 PM

Your claims that prostitution is a victimless crime would hold more water if there weren’t women being forced into sex slavery in Denmark (a place where prostitution is legal). Pretending that legalizing prostitution would result in a fairy place work environment where nothing bad would happen to the prostitutes is disgusting.

      • Jonny 5 - Jan 4, 2011 at 5:06 PM

Yes because things are so much easier to regulate and watch when they aren’t legal, and when everything is done secretly……. Every job has dangers and I’m not pretending anything here. It’s just a waste to fight because OBVIOUSLY it’s not going away. So how do we make it better for those involved? Keeping it illegal is working the other way, not to mention very costly for those paying for fighting it. That’s us, if you didn’t know. If Denmark has issues it’s not because it’s legal, it’s because it isn’t regulated properly.

  5. lunatic96 - Jan 4, 2011 at 5:33 PM

I don’t see how you can think that making something legal will magically stop the people currently forcing women to slavery. It’s not like there’s a prostitution table at the local job fair and people are just lining up for the job.
