Are the Rays interested in Manny Ramirez?

Jan 6, 2011, 10:30 AM EST

Chicago White Sox designated hitter Manny Ramirez smiles in the dugout during their MLB game against the Los Angeles Angels in Anaheim

ESPN’s Enrique Rojas tweets thusly:

En días seguidos, 2 personas cercanas a Manny Ramírez me han mencionado un supuesto interés de “Rays”. Podría ser infundado, pero intriga.

Thank goodness I have readers who speak Spanish. The translation: “In the previous days, 2 people in Manny’s inner circle have mentioned that Rays have shown some interest in him. This could be completely unfounded, but it is an interesting possibility.”

We’ll watch and wait to see if there’s anything to this — could be self-serving rebop from Manny’s camp —  but personally I think Manny would be a good risk for the Rays as long as he’s realistic on the dollars. I truly believe that he’s capable of a good year in 2011.

Well, they definitely need a bat. If the dollars work, go for it.

Didn’t we cover this yesterday? You don’t have a reader that speaks spanish, you have a Minion that serves as your translater.

the pregame hugs and weird giggling between him and Ortiz should be nauseating by the 5th meeting of the season
