Hope springs eternal for every team in the offseason, but the A’s on paper made some nice, reasonable cost moves this Winter. The key for them in 2011 will be health, and that, sadly, is not a “talent” shared by enough of their starters. When healthy the A’s can play with the Rangers because of their rotation. But by August either team could be reduced to a shadow of it’s April self. It’s a thin division, no team has any real depth, and whoever can put their best guys on the field most often will probably win, except for the Mariners, who really don’t have enough. Kind of an obvious statement, but really true this year for the Angels, Rangers, and A’s.
