I agree with everything that you say, but if the Met's public stance is that they are trying to cut corners by saving on starting pitching, they're probably heading in the wrong direction.

I am not a Mets fan per se' but I don't think they should just give up 2011. They can still find nice enough pieces for both 2011 and 2012. I like Capuano and I also think Bonderman-28, Duchscherer-33, Young-31 and even Penny-32 are worth a shot to get as they can help over the next couple of years. I think the Braves are nice but where's the offense? Will Chipper rebound? Will Heyward progress, will Freeman be the real deal, can McClouth rebound so even with only Uggla and McCann there are plenty of questions.

Yes the Mets have their own similar questions with Beltran, Reyes, Wright, Davis, Bay and Pagan but I would cede the Wild Card to anyone in January.

While having a spirited conversation on another post, I really shouldn't be making remarks here.
Have many friends who follow the Metropolitans and I feel really bad about their state of affairs. It's a lot more fun (though largely irrelevant since 2000) to be able to speak of the teams in the area in a competitive fashion.
Please, Wilpons, there is no "re-building year" in baseball.

Come on Mets just save your money you dont stand a chance.... forget about the division thats already over with no way you top the Phillies and the Braves. Your chances at the wildcard slim to none, you probably wouldnt even get the 3rd wildcard if there was one .....

You should just save your money for the next 2 to 3 years then go all out and spend Yankee money. Thats the only way you sniff the playoffs.
