No expanded replay or expanded playoffs in 2011

Bud Selig defiant

Bud Selig does nothing quickly. This is sometimes good and sometimes bad. Sometimes it’s simultaneously good and bad:

As owners and general managers prepared to gather this week for their first meetings of the new year, Commissioner Bud Selig told that the playoffs and instant replay won’t be expanded this coming season.

Boo on not expanding instant replay!  Yay for not expanding the playoffs!

Too bad that we’re way more likely to see the latter happen than the former next year, of course, but maybe the playoff thing will get tied up in a Budmittee and everyone will be happy.

It takes a long time to get the union to sign off on stuff, too. This isn’t all Bud Light’s gig.

Remember Bud is an employee of the owners so it’s not like he is coming up with these decisions by himself.

Has someone pointed out to them that during replay, they can play more revenue-generating commercials?

    Thank you.

No replay is a small price to pay for no additional playoffs.

I disagree with the author..i think no more expanded replay and expand the playoffs..

Ditto—at least Game 6 of the NLCS. To paraphrase Graham Hess in “Signs”: Swing away, Ryno.

Bud Selig is a complete fool. Let’s review his tenure

    -Cancelled World Series in 1994
    -Steroid Era
    -Payroll discrepancies never seen before
    -Over expansion
    -The Expos debacle
-The 2002 All-Star game, and subsequent ‘Home Field’ advantage clause
-The 2008 World Series Game 5 two day delay
-Allowing the season to end in November

and just to be fair the positive…
-The Wild Card was and is well received.

Thats it. This guy need to go.

Selig may be incompetent and stale…but he makes $17MM/year to do very little. He is a lot of things, but a fool is not one of them.

Quite a statue that they cast of him in Milwaukee. Wouldn’t it be a pisser if it melted in the rain?
