I could understand if this game was between the Mets and the Phillies, because then the whole “…will destroy the Philadelphia Phillies” comment sounds better placed coming from a Mets fan.

But a Braves fan speaking with such bravado? What is this, 1995 again?

Good point. One that I forget from time to time. They had some players who wouldn’t budge back then apparently. Not that there were huge numbers of African Americans who wanted to play with these guys either. Can’t say I would.

No, it’s not irony. It’s awesome, and I couldn’t be happier to see it myself. And it’s Phills vs. Braves. So I like it even more….

They aren’t. They didn’t use game bats for pictures back then because they were too expensive. So the fake pine Prop bats made specifically for pictures were all the same length and far too long.
