Despite the Dodgers’ offseason-long search for a left fielder and/or middle-of-the-order bat, new manager Don Mattingly reiterated to Beth Harris of the Associated Press that Mannywood won’t be returning to Dodger Stadium.

“I don’t think Manny is a viable option now,” Mattingly said, with Harris noting that he was “choosing his words carefully.”

At this point Jay Gibbons is atop the Dodgers’ depth chart in left field, assuming his blurred vision proves to be a minor issue.

I’d take back Manny before Podsednik!

Everyone in these parts loves Donnie Baseball, as do I, but trusting him to run anything larger than a 7-11 is suspect.

I gotta say, Donnie has this one right. Manny is a detriment to any team that is trying to develop a win at all costs mentality.

I am a former lifelong Dodgers fan but gave up after this past season, knowing that their ineptitude will continue for a long time. They’ve become such a pathetic organization. They’re gonna suck-guaranteed.

Do you remember earlier in the off season when Manny lobbied the Jays to sign him? He even visited Toronto. The Jays completely ignored him.

“I don’t think Manny is a viable option now,” Mattingly said. “But that doesn’t mean I won’t put him in the lineup.”
