I appreciate the sentiment, Craig, but all this really amounts to is the Tribe looking for guys to make it look like their trying but in reality gearing up for a mid-season trade to bolster Akron’s playoff run.

From a factual basis, you are probably right that he won’t get much better, if any. His age is working against him now, but I just have a feeling he will improve. If he can cut back on the big innings, probably just not giving up 30 HRs again, then he makes things much easier on himself.

Does it even matter.Our season is over with before it starts.We all know that here.Going to be another loooooong summer.Only hope for some tribe hype is if the Dolans finally sell the team and/or Shapiro is fired.

False. 3 of the last 4 years he’s been as bad as he was in 2010. His WHIP the last 4 years are 1.622, 1.595, 1.339 and 1.510. That is not good. Factor in his ERA has been above 5 in 3 of those years and his BB rate has gone up above 3 while his K rate has dropped into the low 6′s and you’re not looking at a bounce back candidate. His W/L probably can’t get worse, but his production isn’t likely to get better.

Millwood wasn’t really as bad as 4-16 normally would indicate. Surviving those first-inning splits of an 11.03 ERA was probably his biggest challenge, along with the occasional big inning elsewhere. Most of the damage against him came in big innings, not through prolonged multiple inning beatdowns. And when he did pitch well, his run support let him down. So it goes the journey of playing on a 96-loss team.

Saying all that, he’d be a good pickup for a NL team like SD, and preferably not being asked to be the #1 starter as he was in Baltimore. There’s no way he can be as bad in 2011, unless he somehow ends up in KC.
