All I can say is finally someone heard our prayers. This would be a win, win, win. Joba would benefit from a change of scenery the prospect new team would get cost certainty for several years and the Yankees would get a starting pitcher.

Actually, Joba’s fastball recovered last year as he recovered from his shoulder problems. But who cares about that, it much better to continue to believe that he comes into games when men are on base and immediately kills babies, tortures puppies, and feeds mogwai after midnight while conjuring a swarm of midges and emailing Theo Epstein the plans to the DeathStar.

Ridiculous? I think not, they’ve given him enough time to show something and each year he gets worse. I would cringe every time they would bring him in especially with runners on base, he’s a rally starter waiting to happen. I think a change would do him good and they better do it asap because his stock is dropping. His fastball has fallen off considerably and his command is not all that good. It’s time to move him if they can.

The key word missing is “ESTABLISHED” starter. Has Joba got his drinking under control?
If so…How long will he last as a starter with that throwing motion of his?
There is very good reasons the Yankees don’t feel comfortable with him as a starter or a prime set up specialist. It is time they trade him.

Look. If they are going to blow it with Joba, they should blow it ll the way. Maybe they could trade him for Carlos Zambrano halfway through the season. Then release Zambrano some time in September. Sounds about right for the way they have valued Joba thus far.
