The Associated Press reports that Ozzie Canseco, twin brother of Jose Canseco, was arrested in Florida this morning for DUI charges.

According to Kristal Roberts of the local ABC affiliate in Tampa, Canseco had a blood alcohol level between .109 and .108, above the .08 legal limit. The 46-year-old was booked early this morning and is being held on $500.00 bond.

Of course, this isn’t Canseco’s first brush with the law. In 2003, he was sentenced to four months in prison for possessing an illegal anabolic steroid and driving with a suspended license. Both Canseco brothers plead guilty to charges related to their involvement in a night club brawl in 2001.

Canseco, a former 1983 second-round draft pick of the Yankees, batted .200/.297/.292 with zero home runs in 74 major league plate appearances between the Athletics and Cardinals.

Like Jose, he is still juiced.

Gotta love the DUI attorney advertisement right above this article. But a sad story that has turned very tragic over the past year or so.

The Canseco brothers are like the Kardashian sisters. They are always in the news and no one has a damn clue how or why. They do a hell of a job trying to maintain the image that they are relevant.

Hah, nice comparison. I still don’t know what the Kardashians do or what they’re paid to do.

When Jose lived down here in Macondo, he was always getting into odd little scrapes – like the time he chased his ex-wife up the legendary Palmetto Expressway and tried to sideswipe her off the road a couple of times. And from what we know, he was actually sober then. But I can’t recall ever hearing anything about Ozzie, who used to show up at the late lamented Satchmo blues bar in Coral Gables periodically with some devastatingly beautiful female or other in tow and hang out in a relaxed, pleasant sort of way. It’s too bad if the bad chemicals in the family genetic bequest are starting to get to him, too.
