If you figure the average going rate for a DH type now-a-days is roughly $5 million/season. It works itself out.

Personally, I’d have preferred the Twins bring in some right-handed punch–or go back in time and not trade JJ Hardy–but I’m down with this deal. The base salary is totally reasonable and it puts us in a good position to keep Thome in a limited role, which is where he excels.
