At this point, however, there’s really no way the Twinkies can afford to have two part-time DH/pinch-hitter types.

If either Thome or Vlady could offer anything in the field, it’d be worth it, but it’s just not worth gobbling up a roster spot. The defense is already taking a big step backward as it is.
