Comments on: Keith Law releases his top 100 prospects list

As readers of a few of my posts know, I am seldom in Keith Law’s corner. However, the guy does yeoman like work researching minor league talent. I do believe he relies on axiomatic evaluation theories to an excess, and perhaps that is due to his lack of actually playing. Nonetheless, his devotion to his trade and extraordinary diligence attending to the progress of developing young players is unmatched by anyone I know. ESPN charges $2 a month for their “Insider” access, plus a copy of their regrettably sorry magazine. Not exactly a major rip-off, with or without their putrid periodical. Reading Law is informative, instructive, and interesting. Reading you NatMevs is none of those.

Dollars to donuts you don’t. Have you worked in a MLB front office? Klaw has. Have you been a paid professional scout? Klaw has/is. Ever worked for an organization like Baseball Prospectus? Klaw has.

Honestly… how much more baseball did Law play than me? I like Keith Law… but to charge to see a list of his top 100 prospects is a load of crap. So elitist just b/c it’s his list it’s some kind of bible.

How about I make a list of top prospects? I watch as much baseball as Law and mine will be free.

MLB.com had Aroldis Chapman 6th. Shows where their head is. These guys are hacks.

to bad im not a insider so i could read it..But considering our major league team is relaly a triple A team (Indians) i think il hear enough about prospects this yr

Yeah, uh, he linked to that list a couple of days ago and basically says just that in his post. Did you read it at all or do you just click on the colored parts?

As a Brewers fan, if this season doesn’t work out and compensation picks go away so we get nothing for Fielder and/or Weeks, how many years are we from competing? 5? 10? We’ve got *nothing* in the pipeline. So depressing.

Did you not read this part of Craigs blog “Law gets a salary by virtue of people buying the Insider cow, so I won’t give away the milk for free. ” It would be unprofessional to recreate the list, but if you have insider its a great list because there is a lot of detail about every prospect in the top 100.

As a Royals Fan this is all there is. Well maybe not. At least this youth movement actually has youth. Unlike the last 20 times they had a youth movement, yet fielded one of the oldest teams in the league.

The Astros are a smoldering crater at this point. As a Mets fan, I’m glad I’m not THEM. Put it that way.
Now that I’ve said this, the Astros will win the division and the Mets will win 65 games.
