I've never gotten this guys name, possibly because I've never known anyone that goes by initials. Is that common? Do his friends call him R.A.? R? I'm guessing they don't call him Dickey.

Why am I putting so much thought into this?

I think that's a big if, though. The last knuckleballer aside from Tim Wakefield to have two very good years in a row... actually, Wakefield hasn't really ever done that either.

Granted, it's not a huge outlay, and if the gamble pays off they'll most likely have two cheap FA years, but it's still very very likely to be $5M-$8M wasted.
