A.J. Pierzynski is friends with the guys from Creed, naturally

Joe Lemire of SI.com has a good article about the music baseball players choose to play at the ballpark as they come to the plate, which is always an interesting little glimpse into the personalities involved.

Included in Lemire’s article is this passage, which perhaps qualifies as the least surprising news of all time:

White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski is friendly with a few members of the band Creed, so he picked one of their songs, “Bullets,” last year.

If you told me to name the one baseball player most likely to be “friendly with a few members of the band Creed” it would take me less than 10 seconds to name A.J. Pierzynski. And vice versa, obviously. They are a match made in annoying heaven.

On the other hand, I’d probably peg Tim Lincecum as the player mostly likely to be friendly with Creed, the character from The Office played by Creed Bratton.

“Nick Johnson came out to Miley Cyrus” is a libel suit waiting to happen.

After watching the Creed episode of Behind the Music and the episode of Celebrity Poker Showdown featuring Scott Stapp, I’ve come to the conclusion that Stapp is, in fact, dumber than a bag of hammers, and saying that may actually be an insult to both bags and hammers.

“…it’s possible a man slipped in; there would be no way of knowing” -part of one of the best Creed quotes (from The Office, not the douchey band)

Wow, as soon as I saw that picture I knew it looked familiar. Turns out a photoshopped version was used for one of the all-time great Onion articles, “Bassist Unaware Rock Band Christian”: http://www.theonion.com/articles/bassist-unaware-rock-band-christian,407/

No wonder no one (else) likes him.

Stapp and AJ share something else besides both being dimwits – they’re both from Orlando. Hey wait a second, I’m sensing a theme!

Not surprising. Scott Stapp and AJ Pierzynski have long been on my top five list for biggest chotchbags.

i wish Michael Barratt would punch Scott Stapp in the face.
