Alfredo Simon denied bail

No, we haven’t forgotten that Alfredo Simon is in custody down in the Dominican Republic under suspicion of murder.  Looks like he’s going to be in custody for much, much longer:

Confirman prision preventiva para el relevista de los Orioles Alfredo Simon. Se rechazo solicitud de fianza. Abogados apelaran nuevamente

The translation, courtesy of a friendly reader: “Simon will be remanded to police custody after bail was denied. Lawyers will appeal the ruling.”

Tough stuff all around.

I’ve never been there, but it seems like that’s a country where you don’t want to be under criminal suspicion of ANYTHING.
