The Royals sign Pedro Feliz

Feb 3, 2011, 12:20 PM EDT

Pedro Feliz

The Kansas City Royals have the best farm system in all of baseball.  The big club though? Let’s just say that it hasn’t improved much this winter. Dayton Moore has signed third baseman Pedro Feliz to a minor league contract.

It’s not big money — only a million bucks if he makes the team and earns all of his incentives — and signing a bad player to a one-year deal is way better than the Royals’ old habit of signing bad players to multi-year deals.  But still Feliz hit a mere .218/.240/.293 with the Astros and Cardinals last season.  Jeff Francoeur is going to watch Feliz hit and says “dude … I mean, dude.”

Craig, if Frenchie hits above .270 this year playing regularly can you do an HBT Daily in a clown suit?

How is it that Moore hasn’t acquired Jose Lopez and Cesar Izturis yet? His goal of putting together a lineup with the lowest OBP in baseball history is near completion.

Feliz flips mean leather. Has no clue about what to do with wood though.

Feliz is not even a good fielder anymore. He is in the conversation for worst player in MLB.
