Does anyone think he will really help the Cardinals? I think some in the organization hope he can, however he is in it just for the extra walking around cash. I don’t think he can hit MLB pitching any longer. He did nothing for the Reds last year coming in late off the bench mostly, and started a few games. Lets see what happens. I think nothing.

he has to come back to top the home run trotting injury he ended the season with the reds with. it will be tough but if anyone can top that he would be the guy. anyone want to bet on how soon he gets hurt? the guy was a good player but way overrated simply because he dove after ball wether he needed to or not. see he must be a hall of famer look how many times he was on sportscenter.

Edmonds might do a little better in HOF voting than y’all think. His defense was great and also extraordinarily well-covered by the media for a defensive player in the 90s/00s.

I’d like to see him go in as an Angel, but a quick check of the stats shows, offensively anyway, he was much better as a Card. And when anyone’s talking about him, it’s as if they had no idea he ever even played on the west Coast.

It is all part of our plan. He is our NL central spy. We send him to all the other teams, to pick up all the inside info. We did not need him to go to the Astros, because we picked up Berkman for that. He is already known as one of the best sign-stealers in the Bigs, with this added access to our competitor’s inner sanctum, we now know all.

By the way, in my infinite grasp of math, I managed to write that Edmonds is ranked 6th by bWAR, and then list the SIX players ahead of him. Um, that makes him 7th. Doesn’t change the point at all, but I’d rather point out my own mistake than wait for someone else to.

Exactly. The guy is clearly a top 10 all-time CF, a much more demanding and important defensive position than RF or LF….but people somehow think he has no HOF case. Saying so is like saying that you think only 5 CF over the last 100 yrs deserved to be in the HOF, a statement with which few would agree.

He’s 6th in bWAR for center-fielders, going back to 1901 (modern era) behind Cobb, Mays, Speaker, Mantle, DiMaggio, and Griffey. He was a great fielding CF who has hit almost 400 home runs. I agree that he is not remotely close to getting elected, but not deserving?

No one thinks of him as having been as good as he was, which is why every year that the vote on him is delayed works in his favor.

He’s just buying himself another year of Hall of Fame voters getting smarter about how they vote. If he were on the ballot right now, he’d be lucky to get 20%. But his career will be more and more appreciated with time.
