Rockies and Angels among places where Michael Young would accept a trade

Sources have told T.R. Sullivan of the eight teams where Michael Young would accept a trade. Drumroll:

They are the Cardinals, Yankees, Twins, Astros, Rockies, Dodgers, Angels and Padres.

Young is from Southern California, so it’s no surprise to see the Dodgers, Angels and Padres on this list. Of course, this doesn’t mean the interest will be mutual. Dude is owed $48 million over the next three seasons, so a trade won’t be easy, even if the Rangers are willing to absorb a large part of his remaining salary.

Rangers general manager Jon Daniels indicated earlier tonight that they would prefer to make a deal with a team on Young’s list, though that is obviously subject to change. If Young wants out so bad, he’d probably accept a deal anywhere.

From what I have read, Young hasn’t offered to wave any of those clauses that keep him from going to KC or Florida or anywhere else he doesn’t want to go.

@Mike The dude just called his team’s owners and management a bunch of liars. I think you just saw him waive it.

That’s true and it’s unfortunate that this situation has gotten so out of hand so quickly. Young has always been a fan favorite, but this certainly tarnishes his reputation with the common man.

I noticed the Yankees are on his list. Do you guys want him?

This can’t end good. He is owed to much for any team not the Yankees or Red Sox to take on straight up, and any deal that has the Rangers paying the bulk of what’s left will require a front line prospect or a major league proven Starter….something most teams wont likely part with for a older player with years left on his deal.
I don’t see him being a disruption if they can’t move him, but it’s puzzling how they all got here.

Twins could play him at 2nd instead of Casilla, would be an upgrade offensively. Or if Morneau isn’t ready they could stick him at first til he comes back then move him to 2nd. Plus Cuddyer comes off the books after this season. Maybe they could even get the Rangers to take Cuddy, one overpaid player for another. That would open an outfield spot for Kubel and DH for Thome to split with Young even so he didnt have to play 2nd everyday

Something like this makes way too much sense, therefore it’ll never happen. :-)
