Joshua Chamberlain was portrayed as a thinking leader in The Killer Angels, one who disagreed with General Robert E. Lee about tactics heading into, and through, the Battle of Gettysburg. This is a somewhat different understanding of the man than that held by many in the South, where it is widely viewed that his dissention was basically disertion. I could go back and reread a few choice passages, but I nary remember a mention of his girth, or lack there of.

If you read Boland from Daily News, he tweeted that he actually talked to Joba afterward, who had a gym put in his home over the off-season; and it’s muscle.
But I guess it’s more important to be “first” making judgments from off the field before actually talking to the guy.

I find this piece somewhat hard to believe. Joba has always taken his appearance very seriously (said somewhat sarcastically). I said it earlier if Joba doesn’t show the Yankees he’s worth it prior to the trade deadline, then he’s gone. He will be part of a trade package for a pitcher if the Yankees have not already signed one before then.
