Well, the Phightins need a RH bat, the Bank is a hitter friendly park and he’s moved all over the damn field, so why not try to get him in right?

But he’d be a pretty damn expensive platoon/utility/bench player, especially with Raul here, too. Rube can keep an eye on him and maybe take a crack if the Walkers get desperate.

I thought for a little that the Astros might jump in. But that’d be too damn funny. I guess they’re a little serious about trying to do things right.

I didn’t love the Wandy and Myers extensions because I think those funds should go to the draft and international markets — they need to get younger and more cost-effective — but they weren’t obscene contracts. They were deals that contenders would love to do and be right to do.

It’s too bad Ed Wade isn’t the GM of ALL the teams in the league. The Phillies could have gotten the Rangers to pay the rest of his contract while only giving up some big league chew.
