Ummmm…..the Yankees have 18 straight winning seasons, and 71 winning seasons in the last 82 years.

The Phillies are a wash in cash, and have pulled off a lot of good moves. Yes, they have had to trade a lot of prospects, but that can be rebuilt in a 4 or 5 year window, which they can ride through with the money they have.

Smart GM, lots of money – I agree, the Phillies are going to end up like the Yankees

Nationals: famous for misspelling their team name on their jerseys.
Phillies: famous for fans giving beer to kids and fistfights in the stands.

Actually, I’m going to hafta bust ya on that one buddy. Here are the attendance #’s

The Cubs @ home 3,062,973 away 35,043 avg.
The Rsox @ home 3,046,443 away 34,948 avg.
The Phils @ home 3,647,249 away 39,005 avg.

In regards to passion, I’d have to say Philly ranks. Now watch this season. It’s going to blow your mind now that Cliffy’s back.

PS, you’re right about the Vet. It was like a half empty toilet. The fans started filling CBP when it was built, a stadium and a winning team seem to make all the difference to some people. I sometimes miss the days when you could always walk up and buy a ticket at the door.

Nats fans dont worry. The Phillies are heading towards the end of a great run. Within a few years the Phillies will be irrelevant again. Like the Yankees, time will soon catch up with them and than they wont have to worry traveling to DC to get a ticket, plenty will be available at Citizens Bank. Aside from the last few years and 93 the Phillies have sucked. Contrary to the way they act now, Phillies fans havent always been so supportive.

Im not hating, I grew up going to Phillies games and remember seeing the Vet being a cavern. This Phillies run and the fan support accompanying it is cyclical. Phillies fans are something else, but they dont have the passion of Cubs fans or travel like the Red Sox fans do.

I remember last year reading a Phillies blog about how someone from the Nationals (in Sales I assume) called them and asked if they wanted to reserve group tickets because they had bought them the previous year. Even the Nationals know there best chance of selling tickets is to cater to other teams fans.

Right on Rpalena. I’m reading all the posts and I clearly remember the sensation that was created last year when the Nats stadiun was 80% phillies fans. Why all the buzz? Why declarations of hate and revenge? Is it not a simple answer? Tell dumb and dumber to beg mpmmy and daddy to break the Mastercard out and buy them a few tickets. Ohh, by the way. It’s not reported very much that ticket agents from the Nats were actively recruiting Philly area fan groups to buy up large lots of opening day tickets last year. Bottom line? Get your own fans to buy some tickets for your own team and maybe opposing fans might stay away and your own teams ticket agents might not have to beg Philly fans to come and fill your stadium.

That’s true. In fairness, I also probably shouldn’t have used the term illiterate because all it is at the end of the day is more inane name-calling. And like you said, what am I, a football fan?

For what its worth, though, I am also a huge hockey fan. Hockey fans are a mix between baseball and football fans.

Actually I think a healthy dose of insecurity would be better. It takes nards to bash someone for being an illiterate while being illiterate. As a Jays fan (stop snickering, please. Toronto has as much crime as your city. We got cred) I will forbear to comment on the video with any more negativity. I just want to put in a plug for all baseball fans in general. We tend to be more literate and less hate filled than football fans (just my opinion, feel free to disagree), and don’t get me started on hockey fans (I should give them a break I guess. After one too many pucks to the face and/or hockey fights its a miracle many of them can still type, let alone spell).

Someone should tell Nats fans that if they don’t want fans from other cities “infesting” their stadium, then maybe their own fan base should buy tickets and actually go to their own stadium. I’ve been to Nats park three times in the past two seasons and there couldn’t have been more than 10,000 Nats fans there. It’s a short drive from the closest rival, the Phillies, so of course Phillies fans are going to come down and go to Phillies games there. The Braves, Marlins, Mets and Nationals fans have no business complaining when their rivals come to their stadium and hordes of Phillies fans are there to support their team. If you buy tickets and go to the games, like Phillies fans do here in Philadelphia, you eliminate the “maggots” that come to watch the visiting team.

Not because they aren’t entertaining, but because I know it will drag out a bunch of borderline illiterates who want to defend Philadelphia.
