You have clearly never studied horned toads up close, Old Yeller notwithstanding. Stepping on one of these critters barefoot is no fun. It would be OK not to worry if you could see them but now that they're disappearing there is ample reason to be more cautious.

Incidentally, Craig, if you're watching, make sure not to leave your shoes on the floor at night in Arizona. Hang them on a nail. If you forget, make sure to shake them out before you put your feet back in them. Scorpions. Ouch! And if not scorpions, illegal immigrant bellhops have been known to fill your shoes with guava jelly if you don't tip them well enough to bring their cousins over.

Gator, dude; what is with you and the lizards? If JD Drew aint getting fishing like you're one, you're kidnapping them, eating them and possibly co-habitating with them. No horny toad gonna do nuthin. Step on them all you like. I saw Old Yeller; kid was keeping one in his pocket. The creature you gotta fear no matter where you go is the beaver. Even there in the desert I say fear the beav. That governor they got there? We in the frozen north think of her as a giant evil beaver. FEAR THE OLD BEAV!

As in, "when you finish fourth, deal with it," or "when your Governor looks like she got her face transplant from one of those missing mummies from the Cairo museum, deal with it," or maybe "when you step on an invisible horned toad with your bare foot, deal with it."
