That’s what makes them so much fun, in a campy sort of way. As they drone into the 8th yesterday, they had an in-depth discussion of Farnsy being in Tampa Bay as a closer, although John, of course, did not realize it. Then a 3 minute conflab about the obvious-how terrible he is. A BESPECTACLED TOAD, as it be.

Not totally unsurprising news. Maybe he’ll come back from this, maybe not. I’m not that worried since there seems to plenty of starting depth in camp. The guys in play to fill in aren’t household names, but still are serviceable guys.

In response to yankeesfanlen, are John Sterling and Suzyn What’sHerName (Waldman?) possibly the worst baseball broadcasting team of all time? If not at the top, they have to be on the list.

On the bright side the O’s are only on the hook for 700K if he doesn’t make the team. Decent enough risk to take even with his injury history.

Britton won’t be in the rotation until June, no way the O’s give him a chance to be a super 2. Tillman and Van are both in line in front of Britton right now.

Hip surgery on any baseball player is never a good thing. Basically ended Mike Lowell’s career. Carlos Delgado as well.

To yankeefanlen and pisano – you’re right it would seem like Cashman did know something that made him leery about signing Duchscherer. Right about now while it not the ideal choice, Garcia does look like he was the best available of not not a very good selection after Lee. Of course I am discounting the thief of MN (by way of NY). if you know who I mean. I have trouble even referring to him by name.

Too bad. Look at the Duke of Hurl’s stats and you realize he’s a better than average pitcher, when healthy. Problem is, “when healthy” comes less and less often these days.
