Photo of the Day: The Dodgers take a shortcut

Feb 26, 2011, 5:00 PM EDT

I noticed when the Dodgers showed up here at Tempe Diablo Stadium today that they got off a bus in the parking lot behind the wall in right and walked across the field to their clubhouse on the third base line.  No back entrance or anything fancy like that.

It makes sense, then, that if a few of the Dodgers wanted to leave while the game was still going on, they’d need to take a different route back to the parking lot.  It just hadn’t occurred to me that the route would be right down the damn concourse:

Thank goodness I was down near the refreshment stands conducting research when they happened by.

Nice. Never been to Tempe, only Phoenix. I’m assuming a full report will be filed? :-)

There were two or three earlier posts from here. I’ll have a general recap-of-the-day post up in an hour or so.

    Only at spring training. Glorious.

Reminds me of the time I went to a doubleheader at Connie Mack Stadium in 1967; Phils vs. Giants. Between games, in uniform, Johnny Callison was socializing with fans in the concession area. Then there was Oil Can Boyd waiting on line for a hot dog at Fenway.
So, the first instance was a much different era, the second was a different um, kind of guy…

So was this “research” ice cold with a little bit of foam? We expect detailed reports on all this “research” you’ve been doing.
