Based on the title, I really thought this article was going to insinuate that Halladay was ‘celebrating’ with his catcher’s wife.

how is the “40 weeks” unrelated?

I agree that the way to figure out a due date is to identify the mother’s last menstral period and add 40 weeks. But that seems to me to be, um, you know, related.

My point is a woman pregnant for exactly 9 months has the child pre term, so the coincidence is not amusing or interesting. Its an unrelated coincidence.

Its just as likely the baby was conceived the day of Dallas Braden’s perfect game.

There’s probably no better way to demonstrate that you’re a bunch of dudes sitting in your mothers’ basements than chatting on a baseball message board about human gestation. Incorrectly, I might add.

The 40-week duration is unrelated to conception, and I encourage you to look it up for yourselves so that I don’t have to type “menstrual cycle” here.

You do know babies can be (and 2nd children often are) born early. Not all pregnancies are exactly 40 weeks. (If you want to get technical.)

Well, 40 weeks would technically be 10 months, which puts it back to April 29, which was an off day after a nine-game road trip. So he WAS celebrating something…just not Doc’s perfecto.

It would be more interesting if this had been one of the players from the Marlins, since we could then say that Roy Halladay was the first pitcher to throw a perfect game the same day as when an opposing player made it all the way home. Of course, we would assume that no players from the Marlins even made it to first base that night…
