Brown has a lot of holes in his offense and defensive, but his special teams play is pretty good. What? They don’t have special teams in baseball? Oh…well then he needed to be shipped back up the Northeast Extension forthwith—after he gets that hambone in his hand fixed.

Who were they going to get to replace Werth that wasn’t going to cost them something they need this year? Berkman? Kearns? It isn’t like Amaro is known for his great trade crafting skills.

Craig, I have to disagree that the injury isn’t a cause to worry for the PhIllies.

Admittedly it probably won’t impact them this year – I’m not convinced Brown is ready either – but it could have long term implications. Hammate bone breaks are notorious for causing long-term power outage in hitters which could have a big impact on his value and mid to long term prospects.

Brown is small potatoes compared to the Utley injury. That is the issue that could be big, big trouble for the Phils.

Maybe they should be worried. He needs more development time, but a broken Hamate bone can sap power for a year afterwards, as well as affect his swing even after it’s healed. This could really put Brown back for significant while, delaying the arrival of the probably much-needed RH bat Philly’s lineup craves.

I doubt think the Red Sox are going to be in the mood to make any move that doesn’t make them better this year. And Cameron is basically the perfect fourth outfielder for them at this point.
