The NPB schedule has a LOT of off days built into it to make up for rainouts. The Japan Series usually doesn’t start until November, so they have time to wait while far more important things are taken care of.

I would assume that Rakuten, which is based in Sendai, is going to need a new home this season. The stadium, called Kleenex Stadium this year, but now just called Miyagi Stadium (for the prefecture) suffered damage in the quake/tsunami.

Many may not have liked W but I’ll never forget the strike he threw when baseball resumed play. Japan loves baseball maybe even moreso than we do over here. People rallying around their teams and a love of the sport could provide much needed relief from the tragedies many have suffered. At some point play will resume, let’s hope it provides that relief.

Do they even have a safe place to play a game, I wonder? I remember how useful the Superdome was for the victims of Katrina.
