Obviously this is another example of the laziness that is rampant in the media these days. Need a story? Don’t want to work? Pick a worn out topic and make a slide show!

I can tell you that, being an Eagles season ticket holder, this “well” that these so-called “media” people keep drawing from has gone dry. Simply because it is NOT TRUE!

Does any recall the Phillies NATIONAL coverage last year, year before that and year before that? BEST fans is more like it. I guess Cliff Lee said, “Yankees? Rangers? Nah, I think I’ll go play in front of the WORST fans in baseball.”. GIVE ME A BREAK!

Come on Craig you do the same thing that your accusing GQ and Bleacher report of doing. They use slide shows to ramp up page views and you use 2 sentence previews that force us to go to another page to read the full story to ramp up page views. Its the same thing your all using devices to gain page views you dont really deserve. This site was alot better when you could just go to the main page and read the stories on there. I used to read every story everyday but now I read maybe 4 a day. It takes to long to click on every link and wait for that page to load so now I only read stories that have to do with the NL east. Its not the fault of the writing I still enjoy reading the stories its the credibility that’s lacking. You cant call other websites out for doing something that you yourself are doing. Well you can but thats where the lack of credibility comes in.

Funny enough that happened to me too last year. I’ve been to a lot of games over the years, but these Phils fans were so bad that we got up and moved because my elderly parents were so offended and upset.

Live in San Diego. Used to dread Raiders or Dodgers fans coming to town. Worst fans ever. Went to a Padres-Phillies games last year. Yeah, Phillies fans are bad. It’s not a stereotype. I mean seriously, obnoxious douchebags. Go Mets, Braves or anybody else.

I’m a Phillies/Eagles fan, but I was born and raised in Baltimore (my Dad is from Philly and I adopted the Philly teams because of him). I have been to close to two hundred Phillies games over the years, and I can probably count the number of “boorish fan” incidents on one hand. I don’t consider booing boorish. It’s a legitimate form of expression, IMO. The few incidents that I do recall seeing were instigated by totally obnoxious Mets fans. I have been to about 12 Eagles games over the years, and have seen a couple of incidents that made me cringe, but I’ve also seen similar incidents at Ravens and Redskins game. The Philly fans aren’t much different than any other North Eastern fan-base, IMO.

Been to a few game’s between the Giants and eagles.and by far the eagles fans are the worst I’ve seen..bunch of drunk pot belly men and women,with no love of the game..I guess there a product of the city of Philly.

Huh! Poor kid. Round here (Calgary) the local NHL club, The Phlegms, are making a serious bid for the playoffs. Since I come from the rival City, Edmonton, I can’t stand this, especially as my boys, the Oilers, are in a “rebuilding” phase (they suck so hard it a amazing they don’t invert). The best thing about playoff hockey in Calgary though is that they celebrate by getting naked in the streets. Which is better than playoffs in Edmonton because they celebrate by having a race riot. As such I know the quiet shame of being associated with louts without in fact having anything to do with loutishness on a personal level.

Gator’s reference to the kiddie puker was a drunk jagoff (yes, singular…as in EVER) last year at a Phightins game that puked on a 9(?)-year-old girl (kid of a local cop, no less), and whose a$$ was subsequently beaten senseless (well, more so than he obviously was to begin with) and arrested. But all of a sudden and to outsiders looking for a reason, that one singular incident has now become something that every Philly fan does every hour or so to every kid they ever see. And it has nothing to do with the Old Sod.

So, yes, you’re right.

Of course GQ is just going for clicks. Rolling Stone does the same thing with its “100 Best Guitar Players” list, having John Mayer rated better than (fill in the blank). Same outraged reaction from everyone who knows their guy is better, just knows it. Still it gets clicks and if you stay long enough to read Matt Taibbi or Peter Travers, the List article has done its work.

For me, nothing says obnoxious, fat, drunk and violent like Oakland Raiders fans. It’s like that South African movie, District 9, in the stands there. You’ve got your alien life forms, hostile, oppressed, ready to explode. Between them and you is a thin line of security that you can’t trust, who are in many ways worse than the aliens. Add to that a whiff of Al Davis conspiracy and madness…It makes for a spicy stew of crazy blood lust that Philly, for all its passion and reputation, could only match if they suddenly transferred the entire inmate populations of Atlanta and Petersburg penitentiaries and combined them with the re-animated troops of the XIII Roman Legion in the home grandstand, and said “Boys, you’ve got 3 hours. Do what you want. We’ll just watch.” Until that happens, the Raiders fans “win” this debate.

since I only know how philly and some Jersey fans are, I have to say anyone who says phillies fans are worse than eagles fans are full of sh!t. I’ve ne ver seen anything at phillies games that I’d consider “bad”. I bring my son to see the phillies pretty often.Every eagles game I see things that make me glad I left my son home. they just picked philly because it was easy. BUMS! I just did that from my phone. Cool….

Go back and read what I said. Yes, that’s what they’re trying to do. And I told people who don’t find such things amusing or who don’t otherwise approve to not click it. And I wouldn’t not make my own slide shows on this site because I don’t find them to have a ton of editorial value.

But that doesn’t mean I’m issuing a fatwah. Sometimes these things are amusing. The world will not end nor will evil be vindicated by clicking through. If you’re against it, I gave a fair warning. But I’m not going to issue my own, or respect anyone else’s boycott in such matters.
