he definitely deserved to get the opening day start over Freddy Garcia. I agree with you he should have never gotten the start over Cole in '08 and'09. those 2 playoff memories about him are great, especially the 10 pitch at bat. I also enjoyed watching him close for us in 07. our bullpen sucked so bad, but he did a great job. other than that I'm happy he's gone, I didn't appreciate his attitude, especially his disrespect to Charlie.

I dont know how this guy does it. For some reason he always gets the opening day start over better pitchers. He got the start in 07 ahead of Freddy Garcia and in 08 and 09 in front of Cole Hamels and now hes pitching before Wandy Rodriguez. Dont get me wrong Ive always liked Brett Myers even after he beat up his wife on a street corner in the middle of a city. But I just dont get how managers keep giving him the chance to get the opening day win. He's never really be capable of doing it.

You can PUNCH this game in the 'win column' for the Phightins'.

I'm kidding. Brett had a great year(relative) down in Houston. He deserves the Start. But between his public display of wife-beating in Boston and his "I fell off my truck../..No, wait...I was playing catch with my son...Okay, you got me. I was drinking Bud-heavy (wearing j-orts and a cut-off T) and got into a bar-fight," incident, I can't root for the guy. I hope the Phils light him up, injuries or no-injuries.

Myers had two great moments: 2008 - 1. His epic post-season 2-out/10-pitch walk vs. CC, giving Victorino the go-ahead Grand Slam. 2. His 3 hit game, thereafter, against the Dodgers.

Despite these fond memories, I can't stand the his stories, smugness, compensating facial hair, and overall d-baggery.

He does seem to "step-up to the plate" when it comes to big moments. And, I'm sure he is relishing the whole notion of opening up vs. Doc and the old home team. I hope the Phils can put him in his place.
